The William H. Walton, MD Student Loan Fund


of the Southern Illinois Medical Association


The William H. Walton Student Loan Program is offered to individuald from southern Illinois for the sophomore, junior, and senior years of medical school. One must apply during the freshman year. It is available for a maximum of 3 years per person. It will pay a maximum of $5000 per year. Starting one year after graduation, interest on the loan is one half of the then current prime rate. After four years more, it is at prime rate. If one practices in one of the 29 counties of Southern Illinois (roughly south of Interstate-70, see Who are we?) for a period of 3 years, there is an additional incentive on the interest charged.

Applicants would require a letters recommending the loan from SIMA members. The request should be sent to:
